Strap Tube Mounting System
Our Strap Tube Mounting System solves many scope and accessory mounting
challenges with a novel design! An aluminum channel with neoprene padded
edges cradles the scope tube, and felt lined straps hold everything in place.
For holding a dovetail bar to connect a scope to a mount, or for mounting
various accessories on your scope, and especially for situations where rings
are unavailable, too expensive or too heavy, this is the solution!
For years we've received the same phone calls... A customer wants to mount
a gizmo on his (or her) scope but there are no accessory mounting holes.
Nobody wants to drill holes in new toys, rings won't work because there is
a dovetail bar or rail in the way, or rings aren't easily available to fit the tube
size. Duct tape is inappropriate...
Our system is based on worm-gear strap, much like that used for hose
clamps. We found 1/2" wide stainless steel strap with stainless steel
adjusters, and we wrap the strap in a polyolefin cover and line the inside
with felt. Nothing touches your scope but the felt on the straps and the
neoprene padded edges of the aluminum powder coated channel.
We put enough holes and slots in the channel to mount dovetail bars, rings
or clamshells, Telrads, finder shoes, and much more. The channel alone
weighs 0.4 lbs, channel and straps for a C8 weighs only 0.7 lbs. (Verses
aluminum cradle rings for a C8 at 1.6 lbs!)
The kits include the channel and two straps. The straps come cut to length
to fit the scope tube sizes listed. (not the objective size, the tube size!)
The strap material is easily shortened with tin snips or heavy shears, and
a file or sandpaper cleans up the rough edges. The bands are tightened
around the scope tube with a flat blade screwdriver or 5/16" or M8 nutdriver.
They don't need to be overtightened, the straps grip well!
If your tube diameter is not listed, email or give a call and we will make
up a set with the right dimensions for your scope. Tube diameters less
than about 3" become impractical for using this system.
#STMSR is a kit of two threaded blocks that provide female 1/4-20 threads
for mounting rings and accessories to the Channel. Rings must have 1/4"
unthreaded holes for mounting with #STMSR.
We will soon be offering a shorter length channel for shorter tubes that
don't have a long enough clear space for the 8.25" channel.
Accessories shown are sold separately below, and come with mounting
Hardware to fit the channel.
